Lauren Canina Roberson joined The Canina Law Firm in 2017, after serving as an Assistant Attorney General in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Born and raised in Brevard County, Florida, Lauren graduated from Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy and completed her undergraduate education at the University of Florida. She completed her undergraduate studies in just two and a half years and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations and a minor in Written and Oral Communication. During her time at UF, Lauren served as an Ambassador to the College of Journalism and Communications and authored numerous articles that were published in newspapers and other publications throughout the state.
In 2012, Lauren was admitted to Florida International University College of Law as a Dean’s Merit Scholar, an academic distinction awarded to top-performing students. She graduated cum laude, ranking in the top 20 of her class. During law school, Lauren served as an Editor for the FIU Law Review and competed as a member of the Moot Court Team. She was awarded “Best Orator” in the 2014 FIU Law Moot Court Competition and was a member of the winning team.
Lauren gained valuable experience early in her legal career, clerking at the Third District Court of Appeal in Miami for the Honorable Barbara Lagoa and interning in the felony division at the Broward County Public Defender’s Office in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. In her final year, she was honored with the “Excellence in Family Law Award” for her work with the FIU Family Law Clinic and earned the “Book Award” for achieving the highest grade in the law school’s most advanced legal writing and research course.
After law school, Lauren began her career as a civil prosecutor with the Florida Attorney General’s Office in Fort Lauderdale. There, she litigated child dependency and termination of parental rights (TPR) cases on behalf of the State of Florida. She handled hundreds of cases involving child abuse, neglect, and abandonment, often sitting first chair in dependency and TPR trials. In this role, Lauren worked closely with the State Attorney’s Office, Department of Children and Families, law enforcement agencies, and the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice to help secure permanency for Florida’s most vulnerable children. This experience provided her with unique perspective that she now uses to defend her clients in child-related criminal cases.
Today, 100% of Lauren’s practice is dedicated to trial-level criminal defense, criminal investigations, and record expungements. Her focus is on defending clients in serious and sensitive matters—including sex offenses, domestic violence, white collar crimes, and DUIs. She takes pride in providing strategic, high-quality, concierge-level representation and delivering exceptional results. Her approach is hands-on and detail-oriented, grounded in a deep understanding of both the law and the unique circumstances of each client. In every case, Lauren’s goal is to bring peace to families in turmoil, while fiercely protecting her clients’ rights, freedom, and reputation.
Outside of the office, Lauren and her husband are actively involved in their children’s school and their local church community. Her husband, a senior-level officer in U.S. Army, has served for nearly 20 years and also works as a contractor for the Department of Defense. Together, they have three young children—a daughter and two sons. While Lauren is grateful for a deeply fulfilling legal career, her greatest joy comes from being a wife and mother, raising her family in the place she has always called home.
