Florida has some of the harshest DUI penalties in all of the United States. These penalties include possible jail time, heavy fines and costs, driver license suspensions, mandatory probation, random urine tests, and DUI School. If you are convicted of DUI, your insurance premium will most likely go up substantially, your vehicle may be impounded, and you may be required to attend substance abuse/treatment classes.

Third DUI Conviction

If you have been convicted of your third DUI offense no more than ten years from your second DUI, then you face a fine of anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000. If your blood alcohol level was .15 percent or higher, or if there was a minor in the vehicle, then the fine will be a minimum of $4,000. If this was your third DUI conviction within a 10 year period of your first conviction, there is a mandatory jail time of 30 days. There is a maximum jail time of 364 days. You will also face a 90 day impoundment of your vehicle and a mandatory interlock device placed on your car for two years. If your first and second DUI convictions all occurred within the last ten years, you face a minimum license revocation of 10 years for which you must go two years before being eligible for a hardship license.
